THESINUPULSE DIFFERENCE
Advanced Performance of the SinuPulse Elite vs Low Cost Neti Pots
|
A neti pot is basically a container and delivery device whose function is to distribute a saline solution into a person’s nose through their own effort. Negative pressure irrigation calls for an individual to provide the mechanics of inhaling the saline solution from the container up into the nose. Neti Pots are available in various materials and shapes. Ceramic Neti Pots are a popular choice.
THESINUPULSE DIFFERENCE SinuPulse pulsatile irrigation offers several distinct advantages over neti pots. The SinuPulse Advanced Nasal Irrigation System delivers a soothing pulsating saline rinse that eliminates the need for a patient to manually coordinate an inhalation tempo. One of its features is a calibrated adjustment knob that controls the delivery pressure of the saline solution directed to the nasal cavity.
Neti Pots are useful as a low cost nasal wash to cleanse the nose. However, the saline rinse has limited effectiveness since it flows on the surface of the biofilm in a superficial manner. The SinuPulse irrigation’s gentle pulsating action applies the Venturi effect and Bernoulli’s principle to deliver a cleansing saline solution in an effective and controlled manner. This explains how the upper sinuses, though a siphon effect, drain into the lower sinuses. The SinuPulse delivers an oscillating saline rinse that pulsates at a rate of 20 cycles per second simulating the natural pulsation rate of healthy cilia. This pulsating action cleanses away the thick biofilm and sets free the cilia to help clear sinuses of foreign substances and infections that could lead to chronic infections.
Studies have shown that pulsatile irrigation is up to 100X more effective at cleansing and bacteria removal than non pulsating irrigation methods.1 Biofilm, is a breeding ground for sinus disease and bacteria. It has been reported in published medical reports that biofilms are present on the removed tissues in 80% of patients going through surgery for chronic sinusitis. These patients with biofilms have very little or no cilia activity. Neti Pots may be sufficient for nasal washing, but they simply cannot effectively break down and remove biofilm and bacteria.
CONCLUSION Neti Pots are a low cost option for general nasal washing. However, their main disadvantage is that they are limited in effectiveness, and are only helpful in providing short-term relief. SinuPulse irrigation is the best option for sustained sinus health, as well as allergy and sinus symptoms such as nasal congestion, post nasal drip, chronic sinusitis, and sinus infection. The intermittent pulsating action and lavage of the SinuPulse helps to restore ciliary function, promote blood flow, massage sinus and nasal tissues, and remove bacteria. It is recommended by leading pediatricians, allergists, and Ear, Nose and Throat specialists as the premier nasal irrigation treatment.
